Using nature to nurture God’s love

At Blissful Garden Bouquets (BGB), our aim is to use the beauty of nature to foster a sense of inclusion and self-worth in those who need it most. To achieve this, we source flowers from our own seasonal gardens or through the generosity of donors.

With the help of our dedicated volunteers, we craft unique flower bouquets (referred to as blissful bouquets) and gift them to individuals in hospices and long-term care homes across Ottawa. Each blissful bouquet is a symbol of love, hope, and inclusion, reminding recipients that they are valued and cherished.

Our Programs

  • Blissful Growing

    Each year, we plan our growing season, including seed sourcing, nursery planting, and identifying flowers and recipient organizations. We set up a grow-room in late winter to nurture seedlings. Your donations will help us expand and gift more flowers.

  • Blissful Gifts

    Receiving unexpected gifts can be profoundly moving, especially for those who rarely get them. We grow beautiful flowers and create bouquets for unassuming seniors in our communities, gifting them unexpectedly and partnering with organizations to reach those in need.

  • Blissful Community

    Our community cherishes flowers as nature’s gift, using them to nurture love. We engage seniors with flower workshops to aid memory and combat isolation, support mental health by gifting flowers, involve high school gardening clubs, and seek funding partners to sustain our project.

  • Yes, we are!

    Blissful Garden Bouquets (BGB) started in 2022 as a Not-for-Profit, incorporated with Corporations Canada. As we grew, donors started asking for tax receipts, so we applied to become a registered Canadian charity. On March 20, 2023, BGB officially became a registered charity. This means our entire focus is on charitable purposes, and all our resources go toward furthering those goals. It’s a big step that allows us to serve our community more efficiently!

  • Donations are vital to keeping BGB running! Here’s how we put them to work:

    • Prepping our flower-growing land with compost and nutrients

    • Growing seeds indoors under greenhouse conditions

    • Transplanting and caring for flowers until they bloom

    • Paying casual laborers

    • Purchasing vases, printing materials, and delivery boxes

    • Covering utility costs like electricity and water

    • Paying for gas for volunteer drivers who deliver bouquets

    • Supporting fundraising efforts to spread awareness

  • We’re always looking for volunteers who love flowers and giving back to the community. Whether you have a green thumb or just want to lend a hand, we’d love to hear from you!

    Roles available include:

    • Cutting flowers

    • Prepping flowers before arrangement

    • Arranging bouquets

    • Delivering flowers to care homes, hospitals, or churches
